We are a fashion brand that creates unique, handcrafted clothing that are kind to the environment and people. With every piece of clothing we make, we aim to create jobs in rural communities, revive traditional crafts while reducing our carbon footprint by using sustainable materials and mindful processes. Each product is consciously crafted one at a time or in small batches, and is truly one-of-a-kind.
We specialize in Eco-printing, a unique dyeing technique that involves placing plant materials like flowers, leaves, and seeds on fabric, bundling it up, and steaming to extract prints.
Hi! I'm Mounica, the Founder of Unborn Studio.
I was once fascinated by the creativity and glamour of high fashion. However, I soon realized the ugly side of fashion: pollution and unethical practices. I started my research on how to find a balance, and in 2019, I started traveling to villages to meet and hear out artisans. I learned that the craft communities and fence-line communities experience the worst economic and environmental impacts of fast fashion.
I also learned that several designers have been doing amazing work: creating ethical clothes in non-polluting ways. With a firm resolve to reduce impact, I worked with a handful of sustainable designers who create beautiful work and founded Unborn Studio to connect you, with the makers, with nature, and with all the wonderful practices that go into making your clothes.
